A. Cantilivers:

Cantiliver of length l carrying a concentrated load W at the free end.

Shows a Cantiliver AB fixed at A and free at B and carrying a load P at the free end B.

Consider a section X at distance of x from the free end

S.F. at X = Sx = + P

B.M. at X = MX = - Px

Hence, we find that the S.F. is constant at all the sections of the member between A and B.

But the B.M. at any section is proportional to the distance of the section from the free end.

At x = 0 i.e., at B, B.M. = 0

At x = l i.e., at A B.M. = - Pl
