   Consider any section X distance x from the end B.

         

      S.F. at X = Sx = + wx


B.M. at X = Mx = – wx. x/2
             Mx = – wx²/2


  Hence, we find that the variation of the shear force is according to the a linear law, while the variation of the bending moment is according to a parabolic law.


 At x = 0, Sx = 0;.           At x = 0, Mx = 0;

 At x = l, Sx = + wl

At x = l, Mx = – Wl² /2
